Gt750 block pulling inserts

Post by AMXsteve »

Just had crazy idea. As the main head bolts are quite thick could a machinist make inserts with a shoulder that would install from below head with 1/2" internal threads so we could just use an old head as a block puller. These could be cnc fairly easy and help a world of gt owners. Or am I just crazy. My machine shop has two of my engines with no hope of getting blocks off.

Have not done this myself. Have seen rebuild topics where they use a flat plate to pull the head off.
A simple design & pretty easy for a shop to make.

Am busy. Will look for the info when I can if someone else doesn’t provide the links.

Oh I have seen the block pulling plates but to ship one or build one would be costly. I just thought this idea would be easy to ship and help gt750 owners worldwide.

Not sure what exactly you have in mind. If you make a sketch someone might be able to provide some insight into how well it would work.

Those look simple enough. So how would you use them?

Pull the head and install between block and head. Re bolt head to block and use 7/16 bolts to push down on studs lifting block off.

Interesting.

That could work for the T500 as well. The GT750 & T500 nuts look similar but have different part numbers.

I have a T500 restoration in the queue. Some PO used sealant of some sort where the base gasket should be. So removing the cylinders will be a PITA.

Be careful to lift them a flat at a time, or the head might be distorted.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.
