Am rebuilding a T500 motor. Crank rebuilt with new seals & bearings.

Note: see oil passage in lower case for center bearing.


The bearing oil hole does not line up with the oil passage in the lower case.



WTF is going on?
The upper case is flat — no groove for the oil passage. The hole needs to roughly line up with the lower case oil passage.

Any suggestions? Was there a batch of bad new bearings?

Is it just the center bearing that is bad?

Has anyone used the crusinimage T500 crank bearings with good results?

Another option would be to cut a groove in the top half crankcase so that the oil can get to the bearing oil hole.
Any thoughts on the option?

Incorrect location of the oil duct is a known problem of Cruizinimage' T500 crank center bearing. Also, that the rubber seals are assembled incorrectly from factory with spring side inwards and seals won't sit tight enough.
In case these problems were already sorted, you can cut a groove in the top half of the crankcase.

You also asked about NOVA transmission gears. They are of the highest quality and are made of better steel.
You need a hydraulic press to swap the drive gear.

Pic of the old bearings — center has seal springs out & outers have seal springs in. Is this incorrect?

A bit of luck. Checked my build info. Bearings & seals were not assembled when I bought them. Are ok because they were assembled by the shop that rebuilt the crank.

The seals are correctly installed on old ball bearings. Springs should be located inwards on each crankcase.
I'd recommend crankcase leak test though.

Does the relocation of the bearing oil hole have any affect on the transmission oil flow to the center bearing?

I’ve looked at the crankcase oil passages but have not seen any explanation of why the transmission oil flows through the bearing.
Is the rotation of the bearing causing the flow, and which way does it go?
