GT550 cylinder temps

Post by ohiogt550 »

Has anyone here ever measured the temps on the cylinder fins after a hard run? If not, can someone do so? Like by using a non-contact pyrometer, and measuring down between the fins where the vibration isolators live?

I have it mind to 3D print a set of the rubber fin vibration isolators, but don't know if the melt temp of TPR is high enough. I have a printer, and CAD software for my engineering business, and I could easily fit over 100 of the little aspirins on the platten. If it can be made to work, I'd offer them cheap, by the dozen....

I've never measured temperatures as you ask, and I've been riding 550s since they were introduced in 1972.
I currently have 4 550s (one just starting rebuild) and none of the runners have the 'tablets' in the barrel fins, so don't worry about them. I have a boxful of the darn things.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.
