Suzuki 2 Strokes

Hi I haven’t posted here before but have found lots of useful information, so thanks to all the contributors.
I wonder if anyone can help me with this.
After merrily stripping my T500M ( which I’ve had since 1976, but has been in bits since ‘88) gearbox down I eventually had a look at the Haynes Manual which states the the selector forks must go back EXACTLY (capitals in the manual) in the same position when rebuilding. As you can guess I didn’t make a note of which ones went where.
I can only assume that they wear in conjunction with the cam and the shifting fork grooves. There's also a mention in the copy of service manual of the drive shaft bearing having a D stamped on it. I can’t find any markings on any of my bearings.
Has anyone else had issues not putting them back in the same order?

Starting in a week or two, I’m going to reassemble a GT500 motor. It’s essentially the same as your motor except for electronic ignition.

I’ve got a GT engine in bits as well and the selector forks look like a different design to the T model.
The selector forks on the T are machined fully round the crescent where the GT are only machined on the tips.
The T ones have an F marked on the castings and the GT have two H’s and a G.
I’ve put them in anyway as I can’t see any difference between them, but I’ll find out once it’s back together.
I’d be interested to see what yours are like when you get round to re-assembling it.
Fairly straightforward to assemble apart from these hiccups and getting spares.

The three T500 selector forks have the same part numbers. So they should be the same. (I’m tempted to say that they are the same, but the parts manual could be wrong.)
Make sure that you can shift through the gears before assembling the clutch.

These bikes were manufactured to cost. So less machining on later models makes sense.
