Trouble with replacement (or original) electrics is when they are specc'ed as 'just enough' rather than 'too much'. If a system generates 20 amps, get a 50 amp rectifier and it'll never fail. Get a 20 amp rectifier and if the engine runs at high revs regularly, it'll fail because it's running at high/full capacity all the time. Cost difference is literally pennies.

good news bike is working as it should.
re-fitted the old regulator and a new rectifier sent by Simon Cradock of aber moto.
got a phone call this morning all is working as it should.
will pick her up next week
if I start getting any troubles then I'll have to consider selling her.
just cannot be bothered these days.
