Good cylinder with bad exhaust port threads to bad cylinder with good threads - anyone tried to press out/in the liners ?

Hi dax,

What engine ?. Early T500 liners can be pressed out. Later have a sort of flange which is cast into the barrels, re-linering these is a bit of a job. (Note: I'm sure there is a diagram on the ozebook.com site which shows it much better than I can explain it

)

Probably easier to get the damage Ex-port threads Ali welded, faced and re-tapped.

GT 250A. My thread file/aluminium tape bodge gave way..( no real surprise)..after 100 delightful lockdown miles
This was one of several ideas including.. eg. getting an 'undersized' castle nut made..

I have a MIG and |I hear with argon you can deposit aluminium, never tried it though..

In case you're wondering...

seat is GN 250 (nice rust free plastic base), rear mudguard & lights GSX250
headlight - Chinese plastic (not so nice), brake M/C and rear indicators GS500..
Front mudguard original patched with part of car scrap..

Some years ago I needed an early T350 cylinder & got one from Paul Miller (a US Suzuki two stroke parts specialist).
Are there any specialists in the UK that might have a good GT250A/B cylinder?

ebay usually produces a few in various conditions - I'm keeping an eye out. Also I have a spare set with good threads but they have had 2mm skimmed off and might require rebore. It's no great drama but I figured a liner swap might not be that tricky.

I think he had a look for me a year or so back.. no dice on this occasion.

i sold nearly all my 250a stuff to a bloke about 8 miles away in hucknall and he's still got them. i could give him a ring and ask for you if you want? the only 250a barrel i have left with good threads on it is a right hand, but it needs a rebore
