oil pump worm gear

Apparently you cant turn the engine over by hand without the oil pump drive gear working its way out. Now its not going in no matter how much I fiddle with it. The oil pump drive itself wont turn either. Engine is completely together. Was going to fire it up tonight too. This is on the 380.
