Just about have the GT550 motor rebuilt.
Have an extra part that looks pretty much exactly the same as the kickstart shaft plug, part # 09242-23001.

This plug is oily & clean. I can’t find any place that it might have been. I hoping its an extra part that was included with some used parts I bought.

No indication of where it might have been per any of the documents I reviewed. Given the occasional errors in the documents, I figure its better to be safe than sorry.
Any ideas or answers?

So far as i can tell it is, as you say, the blanking plug that fits at the end of the kickstarter shaft. Part 18 in the following pic. So long as you already have a plug there, then maybe it is a spare part.

Thanks.

I have not yet put the kickstart shaft plug in. Its a lot easier to assemble the crankcase halves with the plug out. I used a small nylon spring clip in that opening to hold the kickstart shaft in place when assembling the halves.

There is a small notch is the spacer, part 13, that faces the plug. I figure the Suzuki factory had a tool that fit in the opening & held the shaft in place during assembly, and that it used the notch to properly orient the spacer with respect the the pin, part 15.
