Rubber mounted handlebars
Is there a way of stiffening them up as I think i,d prefer them solidly mounted than moving about this much, I thought they'd be able to be tightened up to restrict movement but they're not that type of bush, they look to be in good condition ,so that's not the problem .It's unnerving when they move when braking.

Re: Rubber mounted handlebars
The motion is a lot less noticeable with a lower rise handlebar.

Re: Rubber mounted handlebars
They were rubber mounted because of the engine vibration. It makes hanging onto the handlebars uncomfortable!
The alternative is lower bars as suggested plus stiffer rubber mounts tween bars and top yoke - and neoprene bar grips. Loads on ebay. They are comfortable - I have some on the 550A.

Re: Rubber mounted handlebars
I like the riding position as is in fact im going get some u.s. bars for my yds7 as they feel so narrow after the t500 ,I,ll try cobble some larger washers to See if I can tighten it up to test , Ive not revved it passed 6000 yet as running it in, where is the most vibration? Mine seems vibrate at 3000 then goes smooth so far.

They just tend to vibrate 'normally'. Yours may be acceptable, it's not as if we thrash them constantly nowadays is it?

Re: Rubber mounted handlebars
The rubber must have gone soft I'm thinking ,they were moving about inch and a half. I've cut 3 washers for each side out of thick inner tube with the centre hole larger than the metal sleeve ,original washer on and I can tighten to where I prefer now .

Re: Rubber mounted handlebars
rubber bush's dont go soft hard be.
the 73/74 models were like that but 'm' models had stiffer rubbers fitted, well mine did.
my current is soft and handle bar feels rubbery but not going to do anything as yet till I ride it.
a lot of guys have fitted GT500 bars they're a bit lower.
