New here

Post by JessC »

I just joined the forum to get insight and maybe help for the very poor GT550 got. I'm in the USA I need to replace a lot of missing parts to get it running and then find out if it needs other help.
right now no exhaust on it at all (split er pipe for middle is there) is chamber worth it or stock exhaust? Jemco pipe with nickel are $960.00
Anyone have a good rear grab bar?
Thank you,
Jess

Jemco pipes are much lighter that OEM and make more power but the plated options are a little pricey. You can just paint them with BBQ high heat paint for a whole lot less.

We just ported a GT550 and it has already managed a 13.46 second quarter mile which is way faster than the 14.7 stock, and more to come. They can be made to go quite fast, but the nature of the beast is to be a more gentle tourer. Jemco also sell a 3 into i that probably makes a little less power but should sound even better than three separate chambers.

Before you throw too much cash at it, I'd start by assessing the condition of the motor. Oh, and the rest of the bike. What sort of condition is it in now?

the bike has some surface rust (being in California helps) motor is not locked up past owner put oil in spark plug holes it feels like it has good compression but to much oil can give a false reading. going to pull check valves from under bike and see if anything comes out ,maybe spray a mild cleaner in there? gas tank is rust free paint is very very poor. bike came with carb. kits and a rebuild kit for petcock. i need electronics for under side cover and starter relay. I forgot to add it is a 1975 model

Welcome! Pull up a chair and spend some time reading in the archives as there is a wealth of info there.

Where in the US are you located? Might help to list that in your site profile. Congrats on the GT!
