Hi, it squirts oil into the air/fuel mixture and lubricates cylinder walls and piston crown.

Ah thanks- more or less what I guessed. So a good idea to check for blockages on my replacement cylinder!

hi dax, you can actually remove these if necessary
the barrels i had didn't have any, so i pinched some off another totally knackered set. turn the barrel upside down and drift them inwards - into the inlet port. they are actually slightly wider at the bottom than the top, so you can't put them in upside down
cheers, dd.

cheers, dd.

Always check that they are clear - especially if you flattened the end over with a pin punch. They are designed to feed oil into the center of the air flow for better dispersion, but at low throttle positions there isn't a lot of flow up there anyway.
We take them out when porting a cylinder and don't put them back. The oil still finds its way into the cylinder.

Re: GT250A - brass rod thingy in cylinder intake port
hi tz, yes, forgot to mention that. i put a 2mm drill through them after tapping them in - just in case
one thing on the gt250a is the feed goes to one side of the bridge for some reason. on the ramairs it's central. wonder why?
