gt250A runs only 1 cylinder

Post by cleaf »

i have changed spark plugs and cap but it still doesnt run both cylinders??

if i put plug "loose" to the plug it runs on 2 cylinders but if you push plug down cylinder dies. battery has been charged and points adjusted.

could it be bad coil?

Did you trim off around 1/4” of the HT lead before attaching the new spark plug cap?
If you didn’t, you may have an iffy connection that could be affected when you push down on the cap.

Ya that surely sounds like a bad spark plug cap. Something in the cap is losing connection when you push down on it. I had one of those caps with the metal shrouding on the outside(for looks I guess) and it was grounding out on the metal part of the plug thus no spark at the electrode. Best option is buy a new cap or better yet buy two they are cheap and should be replaced every few years anyway.
