oil dam??
can you tell if the bike had the oil dam mod by suzuki by looking at the frame/engine no?

Other than that....as you have probably seen.....Old ozebrook site....'T500 transmission repair' service bulletin # T3 page 2
Diablo reproduction decals may still sell the 1400 tag if you wind up wanting one.
Borrowing or buying a cheap snake camera as I mentioned in the past and running it down the crankcase vent hole may give you the answer.

I just broke out my spare/original 1975 T500 crank case and confirmed that the crankcase vent hole gives a bird's eye view of the wall the oil dam would sit on. It appears a cheap USB snake camera might not be needed. Looks like just an intense light and a hand held mirror for when the engine is still in the bike would do the trick.

thats brilliant.once I start stripping her down tp paint the frame I'll have look.
currently trying to sell my new bike(yamaha tracer 700) for a 900 tracer.
once thats done I can leave my new bike in my son's garage and this will give me more room to work on my 500 up on a ramp.
