Piston Ring Suppliers

Post by A.Holley »

Just checked ring gap on my T500, definitely need to fit new ones.
Can anyone suggest a good supplier of new ones?
I am running GT750 pistons, 0.5 mm oversized.
Even though I am in Australia, I am happy to deal with reputable people overseas.

Hi Andrew,
are you sure a set of rings will be sufficient? Have you checked the wear on the bores? A set of rings may be a pointless purchase if you need a rebore and new pistons.
Mitaka and Wiseco make good pistons and rings according to Chris Applebee.

Hi Andrew,

Rings should be available from Suzuki. Order + 0.5mm (the same as you have at the moment). Unfortunately you need new rings to check bore wear by measuring the gap etc. As sportston says you might then find you need a re-bore anyway. Mitaka are a decent cast piston, or go the forged route with Weisco or Wossner (more expensive).

Cheers Geoff

Bore and pistons are fine, checked the clearance on them and still well within tolerance.
It’s purely a ring wear issue.
I know I can order them via the local dealer , but I know from experience they will charge like wounded bulls.
Would rather give my hard earned dollars to someone who doesn’t want to rip me off as much .
