Hello zel,

You can still get them from Suzuki. Robinsons Foundry has them listed at £1.45 each. The down side is you need 36 of them so I can understand why you are looking for an alternative supply. Sorry, I don't know the dimensions of the ball bearings.

Cheers Geoff

Years ago, the vendor/website BikeBandit listed the balls as 1/4" (6.35 mm) and I went with that size to buy some before working on the bike but the newer version of BikeBandit does not show a size. A good while back, I installed 1/4" stainless steel balls ordered on the internet for my '75 T500 just because, even though the balls are surrounded with grease, I am always on a stainless steel 'kick' because of the coastal area I live in. I ride almost everyday of the year.

I had to order a minimum...I think it was 50 for just a few dollars plus a couple of dollars for shipping. I don't remember the grade of them offhand. I do remember even earlier doing a hardness test (Rockwell scale) on an original steel ball many years ago at a small manufacturing company I use to work at but I would not still have that note laying around.

You can just do some research and decide which material and grade you would want to use. You might want to poke around the site below for starters and then search the internet for the material and price range you are looking for or check with a local bearing and seal supply house in your area.

1/4" and you can buy them from many hardware stores or a bicycle shop or bearing supplier or probably online too.
