Yes in many ways the twin is the better choice.Porting 2 cylinders instead of 3 is def one of them. I also would like to have an extra set of jugs on hand to experiment with different porting. I can get both but Buying 3 as apposed to 2 is likely gonna cost me more as well. I am not quite sure why I am having such a hard time just going with the twin.I am a big fan of rd and rz twins but looking at both my engines the triple seems to be calling to me the loudest.

I did find this bike though and it is the first time ever I have actually liked this style. Normally they do nothing for me.

lol yes that picture does kind of arouse me

Sadly things are not looking good for the twin. When i turned it tight side up again i realized the cylinder moved 1/2 " but the piston moved with it and is still very much stuck in the bore.

Woohoo I finally got one cylinder off the 500 and the second one is only stuck on bolts.Piston is free. The piston I can see is hurting and rings are big time seized. The bore does have some surface rust but I dont see any pitting so far.A quick measurement ad they appear to be standard bore :ssh:

I,m not sure yet. I did not pull the piston off the rod, just wrapped it with a rag for now.Still working on studs for 2nd cylinder. There is def a lot of room for improvement on in the ports though. Some pretty ugly stuff going on there. My cylinders have the window at the bottom of the liner as opposed to just a cutout. Not sure If it means anything though.

I'd go with the triple. Three is more work to rebuild, but has a sweeter sound.

Where are you located....I am near Montreal and probably have all the parts to put together a 500 bike for cheap.
