Hi all,
I am about to get a set of barrels re-bored to fit a set of +1.5mm Cruzin Image pistons. Can anyone help me out wrt the correct piston clearance.
Cheers Geoff

hi mate, a good reborer should take the pistons off you, along with the barrels and bore to suit. you should get the pistons back marked 'left' and 'right'. SEP in kegworth always do them like that and i've never had one nip up - touch wood

i've also never had any dodgy piston kits from cruzin image - i've had 185, 250, 380, 500, 550 and 750. they've all been good. and 3 working days postage from japan is pretty damned good
cheers, dd.

I would expect them to supply that data with the pistons......

You might expect it rngdng but these pistons came in a plain white box with only a Bar code on it

. The Wossner's I have been using do have the recommended clearance clearly printed on the specification sticker, but they do cost about 3 times as much. I guess you get what you pay for.
Cheers Geoff

If they are cast, bore them like a stock GT...if they are forged, bore them like you would a Wiseco. Just a guess, but should be safe. I would have to look up either spec...I let my "boring guy" do it, and don't worry about it.

Would love a set of wossners, but i had. Chris Applebee wasn't overly enamored with them, as he thinks they are of inferior quality, but said they are probably usable so long as you are not highly tuning or racing. I think they will do me. Hopefully they are not made of plasticine.

If I recall correctly my 0.5mm o/s were bored (supposedly) 0.0015" to 0.0020" clearance and have been OK, but I am not racing so you might choose to go a little looser.
Took the precaution of the marking box, piston and barrel RH & LH with a big marker pen.
PS - I thought 'white label' products were more exclusive, than branded stuff??

Hi akendall1966,
A set of Wossners come in a box with individual foam cut outs for each piston. probably £5 just for the box
Yep, I will be using a looser clearance for racing. 0.075mm.
Cheers Geoff

I use stock OEM clearances for those cast pistons. Good pistons and great value.
Wossners are a whole different kettle of fish. Almost too nice to hide inside a motor.

What are stock clearances ?
Both Wossner and Weisco make very nice pistons for the T/GT 500 (&750) but you do pay a handsome price.
Cheers Geoff

From what I can see, clearance should be 0.0018" - 0.0022" (0.045 - 0.055mm)

Thanks for the feedback everyone

.
I eventually had the barrels bored with 0.0024" clearance. The engine will eventually be raced so is going to run hotter than a road bike and that extra clearance might be appreciated.
Cheers Geoff
