GT380 triple tree fit on a GT550?

Post by TRC »

Anyone know if it will fit and if so, any concerns about difference in strength between the two?

The GT550 had larger diameter forks than the 380. The GT380 has only 33mm forks. So it would be a mistake to put the 380 one on your 550. Most guys do it the other way around and put a 550 one on their 380 so they can fit the bigger 550 forks with lugs for twin discs on them. I considered doing it myself on my gt380, but didn't think it was worth the hassle.

I know for sure the 380/550/750 fork assemblies will interchange onto the frame itself. Suzuki used to sell a dual disk brake conversion kit for the early drum brake water buffaloes. I put one on my 380 cafe build.
