Hi all,
got a 1973 RV125L and getting some electrical issues with it - runs fine but indicators have stopped working suspect flasher unit - but the odd thing is if I put a multimeter across the battery with the engine running I'm getting a reading of up to 14 v ! the bike is running a 6v system - anyone got any ideas what is going on here

Not sure how your RV125L wiring compares to the above.
The earlier diagram shows a different ignition switch & no voltage regulator.
It shows that a resistor is used as a substitute load when the lights are off.
Would seem reasonable that the early RV125 did not have a voltage regulator & the later models did.
Both wiring diagram show a mixed AC/DC design with a half-wave rectifier.
Some components run on DC & others run on AC.
The AC powered components are only powered when the engine is running.
The headlight runs on AC -- so it works only with the engine running.
The flasher runs on DC.
Does your bike have a voltage regulator?
A PO may have modified the electrical system.
Have you confirmed that you have a 6V battery & the light bulbs are 6V?
How many diodes are in the rectifier?

BAS (Bike Acquisition Syndrome) - too many bikes but have room for more

Thanks guys -am going to try and check a few things out at the weekend if all goes to plan -I know the electrical system has never been touched as the bike is totally original and has only done 2k miles from new
