Serial numbers question.

Post by crunkrockjoseph »

I was wondering for a 1975 t500 what the serial numbers were supposed to be. on my bike the engine reads t500 - 82137 while the frame says t500 - 82267. Is it normal they don't match? Has the engine been swapped? Thanks for your input folks.

1975 T500s started with frame # 74162 & engine # 74198

Suzuki typically didn’t bother trying to get the frame & engine numbers to match.
But at the start of production for a new model they typically matched for some number of bikes.

Your numbers are close enough that its likely you have the original motor.
