T500 Engine Mounts

Recently installed my rebuilt 1970 T500 engine onto it's freshly powdercoated frame. Eventhough I exposed metal contact surfaces on the frame where the engine mounting bolts and shafts contact ... no mater what I tried, couldn't get the engine to electrically ground to the frame. I've done several other rebuild projects with this same approach and have not had this issue. Are the stock T500 engine mount bushings rubber mounted?

Or were the T500 engines grounded in some other fashion? There was no engine ground strap on this bike.

Rubber bushed.I ran a heavy ground strap directly from engine cases to the frame.

Thanks. Does make one wonder how the engine got it's ground source originally though.

Cheers :)

There is a ground wire that connects to the alternator stator / points mounting plate.
