Has anybody used these
Ebay Repro Tank Emblems?
If so, how was the quality/fit?
The parts list includes "nuts". I'm guessing they are push nuts? What is the procedure for installing the emblems? I'd assume you trap the nuts behind the mounting strap on the tank and then push the emblem into position?

I have a 75. The 75's simply have 2 very small Phillip screws that are inserted through counter sunk holes on the badges and anchor through pre drilled tabs attached to the tank. The screws are painted black to hide them. Those appear to be for 72 and 73 models and believe your theory is correct. Push nuts irritate me. They never seem to hold emblems tight enough against a surface. They usually require a soft adhesive to compliment the nut to do so.

The early (separate carbs) type tanks have the little push nuts, the later ones have screws and the badges are different. The 'nut's just go in the holes in the tank straps from the outside and the badge pins push into them. I put some double sided foam tape behind the badges on mine, it stops them rattling and can't be seen. You can even put the badges on just with the tape and don't bother with the inserts.

Hi, When I refitted my tank emblems after a re-spray I used a new set of push nuts bought off ebay. The nuts actually push into the holes on the metal strap not behind it. This closes them up slightly to allow them to grip the pins on the back of the emblem.
I found it easier to mould the badges to the shape of the tank before fitting them as it is difficult after they are in place.
Regards.
Glyn.

They went on well, new clips and 3 little 3/4" squares of double sided tape and they are a snug fit. Good reproductions but I don't think they will age as well as oem. I bought them thinking they were originals, though I never had originals to compare them to.

Looks good, haha! Thanks for the update. They really set off well on the dark gray paint.
I like what you've done with the intake as well.
I assume that's a stock intake boot? What cone filter is that? Were any mods required to adapt it to the boot?

Thanks, it is a K&N ment for racing carts I'll dig around and see if I can find the number. I made a thin metal band inside the filter to support the clamp load of the stock inlet boot around the outside of the filter. The inlet is 100% reversible to stock if that's important too.
