Can any of you guys in the U.K. tell me what's going on with Autocar? I'm all set to buy a Newtronics ignition system for my GT550, but now their website isn't working and they don't reply to my emails. Are they still in business? If not, I might want to consider another system.

Pretty sure they are officially history.

Don't know why you're bothering. Points are fine on the 550.
They worked ok on my J in 1972, and on the K and A now.
But if you insist -

Autocar also doesn’t have anything for sale under their eBay account. Last feedback they got was over 90 days ago.
Accent sells a good alternative. Reasonable priced. Its self contained & doesn’t have a external control box.
Their website doesn’t list the GT550, but they do sell them.
They don’t have much of a website. Use email to contact them or place an order.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'd like to investigate the Accent and Powerdynamo systems, but I don't speak German!
