Thnaks, Kevin. That one is from the J/K models and I have that one. The guys at work are trying to sort out the much-melted electrics on an M model and they asked me to help them out with a diagram. I think I'll see if Mr Axl has anything on his site for the later bikes.....although the J/K schematic will
certainly point them in the right direction.

The wiring really didn't change much over the years. The major difference was the deletion of fan and thermo switch. The wiring remained in the loom but they deleted the switch, fan and relay.
I think that wiring colors stayed the same right the way through, as did all the electrical components - points, starter, alternator, regulator, rectifier, flasher etc - no changes of not from 72-77.
The addition of the gear position indicator was most likely the only change
to the wiring harness on those bikes Rick, the rest was the same for all 6
years of production. And by the way, today was a great day. My first ride
since the dreaded Montana incident, and the old shoulder suffered no ill
effects from the exercize. The mighty Strom was purring nicely, as was I.
Cheers. Fred
Hey Fred thats great news, im glad youre out and about on the bike. Luckily the weather kept you out of mischief for a long enough while to help healing the body, but now youre finally loose again on the prairie just as the suns warming things up.
Dave, that's exactly the kind of thing I'd like to have for my archives. I can see why they want to get paid for that schematic since someone has put a LOT of effort into that. It's a work of art, for sure.
Fred and TZ: Yep, I kind of figured that the J/K schematic will get them pointed in the right direction.
Glad to hear you're out riding, Fred. I just got the Bandit de-winterized today and she fired right up without the usual spitting and snarling....so that's good. I think I'll take her to work tomorrow for my first day back. Supposed to be 21C so I'll get at least ONE trip in before the snow returns. Grrrrr........
