Hi - please can anyone advise me how to fit a rev counter to my sb200? I have seen a video on youtube by someone that has fitted one to a modified sb200. The hole for the cable on the engine block is cast blanked off on my sb200 - do I just have to buy a gt200 engine side and swap with the one on my engine? - Many Thanks Steve

I can't remember if the tacho drive gear is still in the cases in the SB, I'm afraid, but I don't think it is. A better bet might be to look for a racing tacho unit that runs off an induction unit clipped onto the HT lead.

I had an SB for a few years and was lucky enough to find an X5 with a seized engine, so I swapped the front end, wheels, brake, tank, seat etc. It was so easy to do as everything was a straight bolt-on. I kept the original SB instrument cluster and did without the tacho.

I also fitted the X5 cylinder heads, carbs and exhausts, and it did pep the SB up a little at the top end. From what I recall, the X5 heads had a slightly shallower combustion chamber (i.e. higher compression).

I remember working out what 8,500rpm (the redline on the X5) would equate to in each gear, and putting little stickers on the speedo. In practice, the engine used to go flat and stop pulling at about 7,500rpm, I found, so it was impossible to over-rev it in 3rd and 4th gear ...

Very simple to fit and it now comes with an option to power it from your bikes 12v system.
