Carb question

I took off the carbs on my gt 185 today and a small chrome washer fell out of the choke side carb when I turned it over. The rhs bowl is not the same as the left as there is a cast in tube on the choke carb bowl. There is also a brass tube from the main carb body that inserts into this cast-in tube. Question is, is that where the little chrome washer fell from, I.e does the washer slip over the brass tube??

Thanks

Thanks, but I've looked at this already and others and they're not very clear. I found an auction site advert of a completely dismantled and cleaned set of carbs and I can't see the little washer in that either but the bowls and tubes were the same as I described. I can't think what the washer would do but I'm sure it fell out of the main lhs carb body when I turned it it over (with the bowl off) and there is no washer that I can see on the rhs carb body.

Help!!

Have a look here

Is that the washer? If so I think that is the jet gasket

Hi, if you mean the one shown above the circlip , then no! It's the same size as the circlip though if that helps? I've taken a couple of pics but I'm not sure how to upload them on this site

You will get a message saying the site has reached its quota you need to use photo bucket or similar then post the link.

If that worked.then that was the rhs carb!

Hers the lhs with the washer shown between the carb body and the bowl, note the brass nozzle stickingout from the body and the cast tube it sits in, in the bowl.

It looks like a washer from the float bowl securing screws.

Wish it was mate, but they're split rings and all accounted for!

I use a plain + split on mine so I thought it may have been a possibility :D

Should there be a washer under the main jet ? Is one side missing?

Cheers Geoff

I don't know, it's possible but I can't see anything on any of the schematics I've found.

I can't think what it might do either, but even with my limited knowledge of carbs and how they work, I imagine it's the difference between running normally and having a host of problems.

Any other thoughts ?

Just because you found it in there, doesn't mean it was supposed to be there.

I'd like to think the same to be honest but wondered if anyone could put my mind to rest.........

There is no reason to have a washer inside the float bowl that I can think of. Those carbs have an enriching circuit in one carb and the other one draws fuel from the one with the "choke". I suspect that washer dropped in there when someone had the carbs apart.
