Yesterday I got my 73 GT550 running and took for a shake down run, first time it had a rider since 1983.Made lots of smoke till it cleaned out.
It doesn't idle on all 3,crack the throttle and all 3 come to life,I have cleaned idle circuit several times with much attention to air flow,[It can use points and plugs]
The mixture screw is between slide and air box,am I right in turning screw in to make mixture richer and out to lean?Do all 3 set the same turns or set each individual?

Make sure that all three carb slides lift together. If one is late, then that cylinder won't pick up with the others. That's what the studs in the carb sides are for, there should be an indentation in the slides that need to move at the same height together.

I set all 3 slide dots in the holes,if I am on the cable all 3 fire fine,I am having trouble with running on idle screws.I should change points and plugs, and I didn't set timing yet.

I had the same problem with my 1973 GT550K. After warming the engine to operating temp, I pulled two plugs out at a time setting the remaining cylinder to run at 1100 rpm. Did this with all three cylinders then marked the idle screws with a marker and backed them off equally. Then you must set each cable to lift at the exact same time. This was much easier to do with the airbox removed and a remote fuel tank. Timing should be set right before this of course. Good luck.
