Can you ever have too much stuff?????

I currently have enough projects and stuff to keep me going for quite a few years, yet I went out yesterday and picked up some more "stuff". I am asking myself today, did I really need more? And where am I going to put this stuff? Going through it today, I can see a lot of goodies I can use, but most of it is scrap metal. The big bonus on this lot was the Cobra seat which I need for my other Cobra that is almost finished. So, I guess I'm justifying this already. How do you guys justify picking up more bikes or am I on the verge of a "hoarding problem"? The bikes are a 68 Cobra, 69T500 and a 70T500 plus a rolling Cobra frame, plus about 10 bins of parts, including some NOS stuff. None of the bikes have the original motors, the 69 has a 75 motor, the Cobra has an unknown year for a motor, but I did find the Cobra carbs and oil lines in one of the bins. The only one with any potential is the 69. Here some pics:

Amazing you guys can still keep finding hoards like this.....I don't believe they exist here in the UK.

I've always loved the T500,but have never owned one ! I have no idea how many were made & sold, certainly a large number must have gone to the US,hence their survival rates & in most cases far better weather than the UK to preserve them.

Never too much stuff. I picked up a similar stash of GT250 stuff last year and still love looking at it all.
So many bikes hidden in Ontario garages.

Nothing wrong. You can't have too many 2 strokes!
Worst case is for the dud bikes to help others live again.

Compared to how my current project looked when it arrived, they all look pretty good to me Fred !

True !
And going back to Fred's original question - it is whatever puts a smile on your face without bankrupting either you or your relationship eh ?

Oh My.....I don't feel so bad now. They are starting to look better all the time. Just found out the 69 has matching engine and frame. The PO mentioned he had replaced all the engines with later ones, but as it turns out, he had this one rebuilt. My wife is great about this bike stuff as she knows it puts a smile on my face also. I just have to get this stuff out of her "parking spot" in the garage as she is complaining already about scraping the frost off her windshield in the morning. Snow is just around the corner.
Cheers.....Fred

Whenever I find myself thinking about having too much stuff, I build another shed...
While surfing Craigslist for something to do this winter (see my intro post in General, about to close a deal on a GT550) I found a Water Buffalo several hours from me. Thought about it real hard, but it's a long haul, the pictures are nearly as bad as yours and the guy wants $1000 for it, so I just kept surfing.

I have been going through the 8 tubs of spare parts and miscellaneous stuff and found these parts. I have no idea what bike they belong to, nor have I ever seen these. They are about 3 inches long and were beside numerous beer bottle caps. Any ideas on what these are?????

Perhaps they belong to the motorcycle that proceeded the Water Buffalo - the Mad Cow Motorcycle.

Could be dog bones from a later model monoshock rear suspension linkage........

Fred, I say if collecting projects makes you happy then keep at it. We need enthusiasts who are passionate about preserving these bikes. Look at what Ian's done with the OJB website and field guides. Having a collection of Buffalos for reference surely helped make that possible.
For me, I came to the realization about a year ago that 'all the stuff' wasn't making me happy and I've since sold off everything except my buffalo, the family's old Nomad, and my restored '88 Bronco II, now my daily driver. I have significantly more time, energy and resources to focus on the few 'favorites' I still have.
