Suzuki 2 Strokes

One of the round slides in my T350 carbs gets real tight as it nears the top of the carb at full throttle and sticks. Not a good thing. I;ve tried sanding it with 300 grit paper, but I'm not seeing much improvement. No apparent obvious issues with the carb body, but who knows. I stuck the slide in the freezer and it worked well for about 20 seconds of course. I am unable to find any new slides (or old carbs) for that matter as these VM32SH were not used much. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

First is to determine if it is the slide, or the carb body, which is the problem (my gut says it is the body).

For testing purposes (don't need to run motor), swap the left and right slides, and see if the hang moves from one carb to the other. If it stays with the same carb, it is the body. If it moves, it is the slide.

If it is the body, either the body is out of round, or something inside is hanging up the slide. If it is out of round, that will be difficult to resolve. But it could just be a burr or pit , more likely near the top of the carb body. You could try and clean that up some.

Not familiar. Are those carbs held on by a boot or do the bolt on? i know on some bolt on carbs, over tightening will distort the body and cause the same issue.

Just a thought here - could the cause be a tight spot in the cable itself? You could try dribbling very light oil - 3 in 1 in the UK - down the cable for a few minutes/hours to see if it frees it up

Appreciate the suggestions. I sanded the slide until it now slides properly, only hope that I didn't create any gaps cause those slides are hard to find. Using a new 1 into 3 cable (actually a bit long) and the carbs do bolt on to studs attached to the cylinders. Will hopefully get that air filter boot on tomorrow and see how it rolls. Those rubber or plastic or whatever the heck they are are nightmares to connect. Oh well......thank you.

I had that same problem with my 350 and for me it was the carb bodies. They had warped slightly over the years and when they were cold the slide would stick up. Once the engine and the carb bodies warmed up then the slides ran fine. Mine were on the raged edge. I sanded the slide bore in the carb where it was rubbing. I used a black magic marker as bluing to find out where it was dragging.

Nice scoot there smoking blue. Not sure if it is my slide or carb bore, but hopefully it is OK now and will try to fire it up tomorrow.
