T500 Exhaust

A friend of mine is rebuilding a 1974 T500, and was asking about exhaust options - specifically he was looking for a set of pipes that ran under the engine as he wants to lower the footrests (knee issues) and needs the clearance on the outsides of the frame rails. I recall seeing a photo of a T500 with pipes in that configuration, but can't find it now. Anyone know of anyone selling pipes like that ? Or is it more probable they were a one off/custom build ? 8)

Campbell made some underslung pipes back a few years......dare say we could do them, we had been pondering it to be honest.

Jemco in Houston TX offers two styles of underslung chambers for the T500. I've used both on my roadrace T500.

The first style is the Swarbrick replica. This is a more classic design with straight diameter head pipes and smaller diameter belly sections.

The second style is the Jerry Clawitter design, with tapered head pipes and larger diameter belly sections.

I've retained the Swarbrick style because it seems to have a broader powerband and greater ground clearance.

Keep in mind that with any underslung chamber design the sidestand and mounting tab need to be removed due to clearance issues.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Ralph, I forgot how beautiful your bike is.....thanks for posting again. I like the second set, as far as appearance goes.
