Too Pissed for a Subject

Post by Coyote »

All Tolled I spent 30 minutes yesterday on the simple job if attaching this miserable spring. Unbelievable! It's still not on. No matter how much you tweak it, the spring is in it's own way of the end hoop. I don't think that casting hole has any other purpose than an attachment point for the spring.. So I have devised a plan. I'm going to jam a sheet metal screw in that hole and simply hook the spring on the screw.
There isn't any other purpose for that hole is there? I stuck the full length of a tooth pick in there and didn't find the bottom. HEY------- I have an H2!

Grab the end of the B***** with a set of narrow nosed pliers and forcefully persuade it to cooperate. Yes, it is intended to hook into that lower hole and yes, your idea would probably work.

I am probably wrong about this but seems to me that the spring goes around that "peg" and NOT in the hole. That's the way it is shaped.

That bottom end of the spring is a complete circle so it still won't be easy to get it over the peg an into the groove, but that's how it goes.

Mine had additional dampening materials, so it's hard to see....

The casting hole turned out to be just the right size for a 6mm tap. I tapped the hole and cinched the spring on with a short 6mm screw. Ainnagoinanoware. That's Italian for won't move :wth:
