POR-15

Post by Coyote »

I just received my tank liner from POR-15. Oddly it came from an outfit called Absolute Coatings in NY. I know POR-15 is located in NJ. In the past I have received US Standard Tank Sealer when ordering. That's what this invoice says I got. It does have the POR-15 logo on the can, but the can simply says fuel tank sealer. I'm pretty sure there have just been some changes made and the product is still the same. I'll know when I open it, but I won't do that till I'm ready to use it. The old can was red white & blue.

I have never used por15, but I have used caswell coatings and I think they are located in new York I believe , I used caswell its a two part epoxy that worked great just letting you guys know, not sure if you have ever used it but i liked it a lot, its pretty thick and clear, if you look inside my tank you can barely tell that its been coated, and its been in it for several years now with no problems, caswell is on the East Coast like por15 not sure if they are made by the same company? i don't think so, but any how just wanted to let you know about the caswell, its pretty good stuff..... i know i didn't answer any question you had sorry..

The point you made is what I believe are some changes being made within the company. They also have other products. Black Koat made for auto frame restoration. The product name along with a couple others have been changed. I'm guessing, some investors bought into the company. Those things happen quite often and things get tweeked as a result. Or perhaps the company you bought it from on line could simply just be a distributor of POR-15 and other company coatings also.

I was careful and made sure I was on the POR-15 home site when I ordered. I did notice there were other sites selling the same thing. I think they have spanned out and now have several distributors.

I have a tin I bought in Dec here in the UK that's exactly the same branding from Frosts Auto who are the main distributor here.

PS if you Google absolute coatings they have a number of product brands Inc por15 and are the manufacturer.
