Much Less for Much More

Post by Coyote »

Concerning the cab bellows found in the later 380's and 550's. The last 2 times I have installed new bellows boots, the OEM clamps will no longer tighten up. Fully closed clamps will drop right on and even have some slop. This tells me the rubber being used is a lot thinner than it used to be. I guess that's why they cost so much more. :? Has anyone else run in to this?

The new boots render these totally useless.

I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

Yes, had this also. I simply put a strip of black rubberising insulation tape around the base of the boot, so as to be hidden by the clamps. The small increase in diameter is all thats needed to get a tight clamp with the fastener is done up.
Cheers,
Mike
