I thought mine were in good condition till I touched them. Totally decayed. Fingers leave large permanent dents in the foam. Anyone know of a good supplier of the OEM foams? Partzilla has them for $25.02 each. Kind of high for some simple foam, but they are correct. None on eBay. I used pods on my last 550, but I really want to use the stock air box on this one. Oddly enough, it's easier to find the element for a 72 - 73 than it is for a 74 - 77.
I suppose I could cut my own and wire them on, but any filter material won't be the same as OEM. Should I bite the bullet and buy the available ones while I can? 2 at $25.02 plus shipping will bring them close to $30 each.

I would buy OE, or repro from a reputable seller, such as GTReiner1@aol.com
For the reasons you state, assurance on correct flow resistance.
Cheers,
Mike

I used the UNI NU-2418 filters and they are working pretty good. Usually both for $20.

Interesting. They also have filters for the T500 & GT750.Spamy wrote:I used the UNI NU-2418 filters and they are working pretty good. Usually both for $20.

Do these filters require rejetting?

Is 2418 fitted or do you need to cut to fit?

Re: lare model GT550 air cleaner element
Im running them with stock jetting and work great.
They fit, just have to poke a hole in the end for the stock through bolt. They require the metal inner support of the stock filter. If you dont have that you can roll up a tig wire or a coat hanger like an bed spring and that works good.
