They're J&R pipes and they will not fit a 550 without moving mounts, etc.

They work well on the 380 -- they pep up the motor very nicely, giving more power in the 5,000 - 7,000 rpm range without affecting the low and mid-rpm range. They do sign off early though.

I think the major difference is the exhaust port size. The 550 being slightly larger than the 380, they won't fit a 550 without some major surgery.

So what are the options if the baffles are falling apart or missing? Also do they make replacement stock baffles?

If baffles are missing and nla, you might consider making or adapting some. Here's how I solved for a missing Piper 3:1 baffle, though I'd not have enjoyed making three off!

No-one makes replacements for those, unfortunately ... There are 4 pieces to the 'baffle' assembly:

- a internal collar with a big spring that receives the perforated tube inside the pipe. This butts up against a welded ring inside the pipe, at the point where the final cone meets the 'tailpipe' section
- the perforated baffle tube which (from memory) is 22mm inside diameter and about 24cm long. One end goes into the sprung collar, the other end butts up against the end cap
- the end cap
- a big circlip which stops the cap falling out, and holds it all together

The eBay pic shows the end caps in all three pipes, so that's a good start. You might just need new perforated baffle tubes, as those do corrode in the exhaust gases and fall apart. You can make new tube from perforated sheet, or you can buy lengths of tube of the correct ID from MX / trials shops.
