67 Suzuki TC250 oil pump bleed screw

I am aware the bleed screw is a reverse thread. Why when I remove the screw from the pump I get no oil flow? My tank has about 1 Liter oil, the line was primed all the way to the pump, but waited approx. 3 minutes and nothing, no oil?? I have the pump to engine lines primed also and just getting air bubbles flowing, no oil pushing through the pump, and looks like the tank to pump line is pushing back away from the pump? Whats the deal?? Thanks!!!!!!
