Replacement keys

Post by Marshall »

Is there any way I can get a replacement key made if I have the number on the lock? My bike was assembled from a bunch of parts and it didn't come with a key.

ebay or Crooks Suzuki. Possibly any Suzuki dealer that does keys.

There's a guy who sells them on eBay with the correct numbers stamped on them.
73 GT750 Ducati - 20%
72 T500J - 95%
09 Yam XVS950A
81 Yam XV920 - cafe conversion - 90%

There are a few, here is one, who helpfully lists the #s of his used keys....

I have checked that listing before as I am looking for key 151. One of the few missing from his list.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

Quote the number to Crooks and they will do the biz. I have dealt with them since 1972 and they are very good.

Of course you could just put any key in there and file the detents flat if you don't want to spand! You will have to do all 3 locks though.

Paul Miller sells them in the USA, as does Reiner in Germany, Crooks in the UK - lots of options depending on your location. 8)

I noticed that the key codes have only 3 digits, while my lock has 5 digits.

If I have key 33324, what is my key code?

If that 5 digit code is stamped on your lock and it is original Suzuki, I believe this means you have an early, single-sided key lock. Please see Ian's page below.

So am I out of luck then?

No. I had some made for a '72 550 by quoting the number.

This eBay seller has key # 33324:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Suzuki-Pre-Cut- ... 1301324299

His pic shows that the 3XXXX series keys are single sided, and 1XX series are double sided.

One of my older Suzukis has a single-sided key with the number 22.
Tried to get a duplicate.
Turned out 22 didn't refer to the number for the cut key, but it referred to the number for the blank uncut key.
