Suzuki 2 Strokes

I need an MC for thr GT550 I just bought, so I'm looking for options. Has anyone used one of these or know anything about it? I don't think I see a hook up for the brake switch. Picture not that great. Certainly cheap enough. Maybe I need to go kick around the salvage next week. I have rebuilt one already and don't care to do it again.

I was extremely close to buying that one at one time. Thinking my 750 mc needed rebuilt. But, I managed to get the brakes sorted out. I would think that would work fine. I'm sure it's a made in China. The way I look at it, there's not too much to lose there. It's only $33 new and it would be hard to be any worst than an original 40 year old GT master cylinder. Let us know how it works out if you go that direction. No brake switch would break the deal though. Message the seller. I could be wrong, but it does appear to have one on the underside in the second picture.

I just contacted seller to be sure. If not, I could use an inline pressure switch. Used one on RedZone for the rear brakes. They work fine.

Show me what this pressure switch looks like that you speak of. Never heard of it.

The banjo bolt includes the inline pressure switch. So adding a switch is as easy as swapping out the banjo bolt.

PJ, I heard back from the seller. Yes, the MC does have a brake switch on the underside in the normal place. I still don't know how well I like it for 2 reasons. A) the lever may or may not be interchangeable with a normal alloy lever, and B) the normal MC has a diaphragm in the cap. This screw on lid might have nothing. Oh well. somebody has to be the guinea pig. It might as well be me. I'll order one up and report on it when I get it. Who knows? Might be the greatest thing since a dead squirrel.

As far as the inline brake switch goes, this is how I employed one on RedZone. Has 2 wires and hooks to the harness the same as the OEM switch. No mods at all.

Interesting, that pressure switch! I guess its not adjustable though, unlike the manual switch? fine so long as it lights the brake lamp when you want it to...perhaps its set to a low triggering pressure so it'll always respond, even to tiny lever movements?

A new development. I got an email from the MC seller saying he just ran out of them (odd, his ad says more than 10 available). Offered to upgrade me to an all metal model for the same price. I looked at the pic he sent. Similar except a metal lid, a sight glass and a bright alloy handle. I accepted. So we are not going to get to test the one we wanted to. I hope this isn't some sort of scam. His ad is still up and still says more than 10 available. This has not been my day.

I am not getting either one. The more I looked at the all metal 'upgrade' they offered me less I liked it. The main reason is the MC was a side discharge. Never seen one quite like it. So I contacted the seller and said if I couldn't get the one advertised, I don't want any at all. They refunded my payment to PayPal. Case closed. Still need a MC.

Come to think of it, that's why I also changed my mind regarding it. The lever. I asked him if it would except the original GT lever and he said no. But, I got my brakes to operate correctly shortly after. As far as the diaphragm on the Ebay mc. It's be a huge rip off if it didn't come with one. That pressure switch is pretty slick.

That's a bummer that you didn't get the MC. I was going to order one too this morning. Maybe I'll message the seller to see if he's got it in stock. Just to see what he says.

Also for anyone with doubts about the banjo bolt brake light switch.... I've used them many times on bikes in the past. Everyone I ever had was way better than the factory style switch. No adjustment neccisary. Always works. In fact Aprilia uses them right out of the box on a few of their current models. My SXV550 had em.

Don't bother messaging the seller. He is out. I asked if he was getting more of the same model and he said yes. ETA 5-6 weeks. Obviously they are coming from the orient.

You could talk to Fred at Yoyodyne about a master cylinder. He can provide a Brembo that's better than the ebay one in every respect. It will be a bit more though - usually the Brembo M/C's run $75-$99 for the ones I get from him for my stuff.
