GT380 Ignition Wiring

Post by miked914 »

Hi Guys,

So I’ve finished with my carb dis/reassembly and they came out great. These carbs are really not all that bad to work on once you spend some hours with them.

I’m going to switch my focus to some wiring now. I’m transforming my 380 into a café style and will not have the stock gauges. I also do not currently have a stock keyed ignition. (In fact, I have no ignition—it was loaned to another 380 which is now gone…)

Can you guys check my wiring plan here. Using the diagram from the Electrical section on this site, it appears that I can run an ON/OFF toggle or keyed switch between the ORANGE and RED wires that would normally go into the stock keyed ignition. This, to me, would provide the path for power (RED) to energize the starting system through the ORANGE wire

Also, Can I cut out the BROWN and GREEN wires that power the Tach/Speedo lamps and Tail-light while in PARK mode? I won’t need that option and any wiring I can get rid of will be a plus. I don’t see them energizing anything vital down-stream or any jumper wires being plugged into their path.

Thanks!

Mike
