What is best?

HI,

I was going to put my newly honed, ported barrel and pistons back on my T350 this evening, as i recieved
my NOS genuie Suzuki small end bearings from the US today, but unpacking them i just realized that the small rollers
actually are shorter than the old ones which were pattern ones. Now i am really in doubt

I guess the NOS are superior in quality, but the pattern ones have more contact surface, alot more actually.

So should i buy new pattern ones to get more surface, or should i use the NOS???????? THIS IS A REALLY STRESSED PART

Another thing is, what if it was a old crank that only had run with the narrow Suzuki ones, that must leave a groove that is not suitable for the pattern ones that have wider rollers, then they would only touch the sides

But thank god that is not the case here, my crank is only 6000km old and have only had the wide ones, in new connecting rods!

Hi, thanks. I bought a set from them yesterday, hopefully they will appear tomorrow..

But the question is still - what would you Guys out there use if you had the option??

A = The NOS superiour quality, but less surface

B = The pattern, unknown quality, but more roller surface

Experts where are you?

Anybody with race engine experience and a clue what you would use would be great to have participating in this tread!

Everybody tells me it is one of the most stressed parts, so i am really in doubt here!

Look at it this way. The OEM's have logged a blue million miles. The shorter surface means less rolling resistance. Me? I'd shy away from the 'unknowns'. Make sense?

I think the issue for OEM short rollers longer cage is the piston can move side to side on the rod small end thus so can the bearing move side to side. You always want the rollers and some of the cage ends to remain between both bearing surfaces else could fail. Other than this more roller area is better. But agree Suz engineers understood their application and designed the bearing for it.

I concur, the factory knew best in this case, and take into account, the heavier bearing, and weaker bearing retainer.......

Are you sure you've been supplied with "Genuine" Suzuki parts ? There's a lot of unscrupulous people out there.

Here's a couple of photo's of NOS small end bearing 09263- 14006 just removed from a sealed packet for the photo.





Now this looks nothing like the NOS one you show, I know the one I have may not be Genuine even from a sealed Suzuki packet.
But I have a further two with the new superseded number 09263-14022 which came from a very reputable Suzuki dealer here in the UK and the bearings look identical to the one in my picture.

Well they are for sure Genuie Suzuki parts, and they fit. Could be later design as the T350 parts list say 09263-16004, and those i have here says 09263-16005. Let me just check the GT250 parts list - nope, same number as T350, GT380 , GT550. Anybody who recon this number and where it belongs?

I've been using wider roller needle bearings in all of my 2 stroke bikes without any issues. TKRJ brand in most cases.

Yes, sorry my mistake, I thought GT380 (09263-14006) Was also OEM for the T350.

Eyes failing me I can see now its (09263- 14004)

According to some sites 09263-16005 is sized 14x17x16.8 for a 14mm pin. But hasn't the T350 got a 16mm pin ?
