The file is "SuzukiT500.pdf"
That's a wonderful scan - thanks so much for taking the time to create that sweet document for us T-500 owners! I really appreciate it. Anyway, would you please answer me this question? Do the procedures listed therein apply to the T500-M that I own? I assume the only difference between my bike and what's listed in the scanned document, other than the model designation, is the specs (e.g., spark plugs, jets, float height, etc.)? Thanks for your help!

I do now realize that (even though I didn't particularly want to) I'm going to have to pull the carbs off the bike - nonetheless thanks for the positive reinforcement...

That was because WP waits till they meet minimum order quantity. I called JT, and they told WP to just order them. Then JT drop shipped them to my dealer. Had 'em in around 10 days. Too bad when customer service = self-service. I ordered a set of JT sprockets a few weeks ago for a H1 I'm working on. The same dealer ordered from Tucker Rocky, and I had 'em in a week.

I'm confused about the tire sizes for my GT380...

Post by Admin »

Okay, so my age (or maybe lack of) is showing. I'm used to ordering tires in metric form--width (in mm) and the ratio height.

I'm not used to ordering them in inches...

So, here are the markings on the sidewalls of my tires:

Front: 3 * 60 H 19 (Where the asterisk is just a dot centered between the 3 and 60)

Rear: 4 * 25/85 H 18 (Same thing for the asterisk.)

I know the 19 and 18 are wheel diameters, respectively.

I'm thinking the front is 3.00 inches wide, with a 60% ratio? And the rear is 4.25 inches wide, with an 85% ratio?

Here are some tires I'm looking at:

Again, thanks for your help guys! My "Stimulus Check" came today, so I'm gonna use it to buy the final pieces needed to get her road worthy. Hopefully I'll be smoking out the mosquitoes soon!

Successful chrome painting?

Post by Admin »

All, and I mean ALL, the chrome on my GT380 is rusted. Some bad, some worse.

I have no intentions of restoring this bike to its original condition.

I also have no intention of dropping hundreds into replacing all the chrome.

I want to paint all the chrome bits, but have heard horror stories about not getting the paint to stick.

My plan is to use my power drill and a stripping attachment to sand off all the chrome and scuff the remainder quite well.

Apply acid etching primer.

Apply paint and clear coat as usual. I'm not sure of my final color/scheme/plan yet, but do know that I'll be doing it with a rattle can over a long time period.

Do any of you more experienced guys have some advice for me?

as long as the surface is roughened up(keyed) paint will stick.

In European sizes, the front should be a 90 / 90 19" (equivalent to a 3.00") and the rear a 110 / 90 18" (equivalent to a 3.5").

There's a useful conversion table here:

http://www.conti-tyres.co.uk/contibike/ ... .php#alpha

I'm running a 100/90 on the front and it's fine, a 3" tyre is very skinny ...

They are Ching Shins, not a bad tire but not the best. A 100-90x19 front and a 110-90x18 would be OK.
