They had one at Vintage Days at Mid-Ohio in 2001 when the Bimota club turned up and they let it race in the F500 class. Zook-e ran against it on Saturday and reported it definitely had more power than his air cooled T500 but the rider was not pushing it hard so Eric walked around him in the corners.Suzukidave wrote:Yep , the Bimota500 SB-1 was a hottie
This was the same year TBrock beat Zook-e in the heavyweight production class (TBrock's first race ever - AHRMA wasn't as strict about race credentials 7 years ago) and the year Zook-e crashed in the Sunday heavyweight production class.
I dug up the pictures I have of the SB1 and I'll see if I can't scan them tomorrow and post them here.

The RG500 is overly complicated, not very durable and heavy on maintenance relative to the T500. Still the RG500 can be made into a nice machine but I didn't want 4 cylinders then and still don't. The RG500s sold here for a song new as the GSX750R sucked up all the sales.
The Brand Y RD500 sold for an even cheaper song as people discovered what a bitch they were to keep on the road.
Why Bimota didn't perservere with the recent 500 w/c I don't know...because without fuel injection people seem to have them running sweet. i guess they were prohibitively expensive.
As you know I blame Suzi's obsession with the triples and the RE5 for the failure to build a giant killing TR500 w/c replica.....by then as well they were focussed on the race RG500 four and on building 4 cyclingder four stroke to make up for their marketing failures.
the Bimota TR500 is just the sweetest looking thing.

I might make a special Bimota page.
