So I wisely kept that reply short and said

"Call em"

I think one importance of such a board is to point out potential issues and steer others towards experts when they are not.
I did that properly. I will continue to be careful and now courageous when using hear-say to exchange information. Sorry if felt a bit slapped  for it

TZ375

You seconded the challenges with collector design for me. (albeit much better explanation, thanks)

Yes! sleds can get good results out of 2 or 3 into 1 design and most rev past 8000 RPM from factory stock. They (Rotax, Suz< Yam, Fuji) apear to be subject matter experts.

If we had a 3 into 1 design that far in reach for a GT triples that would be great.

I see old Clymer GT Triple manual recommends for street use performance gain use ->

Strader Engineering
116 E. Harvard BI
Santa Paula CA. (Bet they don't exist any more)

Clymer has a small picture ( I'll try to scan it when I get back to work).

That collector design looks nice.

I try to post the pic I got from Jemco on the 3 into 1

Or Call em they can send it to you.

Maybe less risk with 3 into 3 if one wants a performance boost.

But wnat on tuned for street performance not Road Race

Tz375 you have 3 into 3 jemcos on you GT750. But your bike is not stock?

Here's a couple of pics (courtesy of Blokhead) of the Strader collector. Vintageman you are right.....Strader doesn't exist any more.

Vintageman,
I wasn't trying to slap you. :) It's just that in my case I'm a little cautious about passing on what I think someone else was saying because what I think they said isn't always what they were actually trying to say. So for example if a racer tells me his bike is running like a dog and the last changes were a disaster, what does that mean? Does it mean they were a disaster or not as much of an improvement as hoped for ?

I have a Strader on my GT750. I bought the bike and Strader from the original owner, but it came with an earlier baffle design than Blockhead/RingDing's. I have also run that bike with stock OEM pipes and Jemco 3 into 3 which I borrowed from a couple of good friends on this board.

In reality, Strader headers seem to me to be too long and the collector is too short and too small IMHO. Contemporary road tests suggested that the Strader made slightly more power than stock as tested by Walt Strader. I have modified the baffle design on my Strader and haven't had the opportunity to put it back on the dyno to see what difference, if any, that made. The Strader pipe is very well made form thin gauge steel. It's very light and supposedly made good power back in the day

I would have expected the Omar/Jemco 3 into 1 to work better than Strader based on what I think are better design of collector and shorter head pipes. We would need to test one back to back with Strader to see if that's true or not. :) Since I don't work for any of those guys and they are not paying me to test them, that probably is not about to happen any time soon.

Does anyone have a dyno chart or a video with decent sound of an Omar/Jemco pipe they would like to share?

I do like the look of this one, im not too concerned about the performace gains at this point. its to replace my beat up stock exhaust. did Jemco give you a price for the silver exhaust?
And does omars only come in black?

The silver ones are actually nickel plated. That adds considerably to an already stiff price. I'm sure Omars can be nickel plated, but again it's more $$.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

I don't like the look of the nickel plate. It makes them look spray painted. However, I do like the look of the Jemco 3-into-3 actual pipes. But, being less than $100 cheaper compared to the Higgspeeds. It's a no brainer from my point of view. Plus, the Higgspeeds have a nicer cosmetic bend to them.

Exhaust sound is so subjective. Most two strokes sound just horrible and noisy at low revs. At higher revs under power, that is completely different. For example any GP bike at speed sounds sharp and crisp as it rips. At low revs with that pop, pop pop, sound, not so much.

I guess it comes down to the nature of the sound. To my ears, a clean crisp continuous sound is good and a broken up, individual pulse sound is not so nice. That's probably why a 3 into 1 sounds good to me because it's closer to the sound of a TZ or RS where a popcorn maker sounds slow and obnoxious. Not everyone shares my sense of what sounds right though.

My "take" with Jon and Jemco, is most likely, they don't want complaints of lack of performance. Even if you tell guys, they still expect "expansion chamber" power increases.

The "comparison" of snow mobiles comes up a lot, the truth is they are a different animal. They have "soft" traction and centrifugal clutches. So the motor can rev to the sweet part of the power band, and the pipe can be designed for a specific small rev range. The street requirements are totally different, and not really comparable.

There seems to be a different frame of mind between the Kawi guys and the Suki guys. I don't "get" just wanting to save a few lbs, and a different "sound", when you can get that and more power with 3 into 3. The 750's have more than enough poop to doodle around town, and to get just a bit more low end power, and lose and top end punch, is really just like having a 4 stroke.

If you really want the 3 into 1 sound, the just run the 3 into 3 pipes into one silencer, best of both worlds.

You need to call Jon at Jemco. You may get Dan. They IMHO don't try to be politically correct

I just did just did not want to get into it again about a 3 into 1 with them

I bought a set of 3 into 3 for GT750, non plated, great price versus anyone elses

I think the 3 into 1 is just fine too and nice to have it to swap out now and again. I think they were cheaper than Omar and don’t recall. I am on my fourth set of Jemco. Jon knows me mainly for I built his GT185 kit and sent hime pics how to mount.

Jon said for some of his pipes (like the GT185 kit was one?) the factory back when told hin how to make it.

Ask him whenyou buy where they got the design if he recalls

Have you ever seen their GT/T250 kit? (looks race tuned) I think it could be made to fit T350. Also their RD 400 is radical/unique. I’ll try to find the Jemco picks again

I think some of Higgspeeds swept up sound funny (Clapping instead of popcorn maybe a better sound description while idling) but I think the non- upswept (Denco ike) are awesome sounding. Higgspeed has one of my favorite sounding pipes. They are beautiful

Everyone’s desing is so different in design, some are adhoc maybe?

Tz375;
I think some chambers low speed sound awesome… if your carbs are tuned not to crackle. Too bad everyone’s post is usually hammering See this video 1:28 to 1:33 Vroooom Vroooom

Here is a decent sounding Jemco on a GT750

Here is a pipe I really like its sound for GT750. I think its one on this post

Ja-moo,
I'll have to differ with you that snowmobile is different with respect to 2 stroke exhaust. Yes they run torque converter, but you can use the full rpm range, not just sweet spot. In fact things have to be just right to do “any RPM hold”. It would be ridiculous to put gears on a sled. Just think what it would be like when you let off to shift the track drag would throw you over the handle bars.

Tz375 and Ja-Moo you guys are way ahead of me on knowledge and thanks for accepting my opinion even if I may be wrong… sometimes

The Jemcos sounded good as did the last one. The first one sounded remarkably like a 3 into 1 pipe. There's a strange resonance that sounds very similar.

Sleds are very different in that with a CVT, it doesn't matter if they make low down power. It lets them rev higher for a given speed - depending on the clutching and that makes it easier to run with a pipe that has very little power below 6 grand or so.

With gears, we need a smoother transition from no power to power than sled does.

Hi all, From my personal experience I had a 3 into 1 on my GT750L,(don't know the brand though), and could not get the thing to run properly, at minimal throttle opening it would stutter and jerk making it almost impossible to ride at a constant throttle at around 60kmh, as soon as the throttle was opened it would pull away cleanly but as soon as you settle back to a steady speed again the stuttering started. I tried almost every possible carb/jetting combination and timing changes, all to no avail, then I got an original exhaust (from an M model) and it ran almost perfect. So that pipe is now collecting dust in the shed which is a pity because it sounded and looked great and gave easy access to the rear wheel etc. Anyone else had the same experience with using a 3 into 1 ??
