Favorite two stroke injection oil

Allan, I did some research and that oil is quite unique.

Not too many oil companies post PDS (Product Data Sheets) on their web sites but I managed to find a few and compare them. I grabbed Shell, Esso, Mobil and Castrol PDS's.

Snowmobile injector oils typically have a pour point around -50C and viscosity at 100C of 5-6. They are "thin" so they flow easily at very low temperatures.

Street 2 stroke injector oils vary considerably, but are typically seem to be around -20C pour point, and viscosity of around 9. Much more appropriate for bikes in summer.

Now get this. Shell Ultra Synthetic has a pour point of "only" -42c and a viscosity of 10 at 100 degrees. That's a relatively "thick" oil for injectors, at any ambient temperatures, but they claim it flows easily.

They say that it is suitable or injection or premix and claim amazing things for that oil. It was designed for high performance snowmobiles and looks like it's a pre-mix oil but they say it's OK for injectors.

Sounds like a good synthetic oil and very unusual.

Richard i take it you were a bit impressed by the data. Well it certainly isnt cheap either, at Uncle Ricks favourite place, Cambodian Tyre, a GALLON retails for around $45.00 CAN, or approx $43.50 USD at todays exchange rate.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

I'm not sure I was impressed but I did find the specs interesting. I'll stick to a motorcycle specific oil thanks.

That sounds like a reasonable price for a synthetic hi po oil. Not cheap, certainly, but not as bad as some.

Buy oil.....use oil. That's my opinion of oils in these old Suzukis. They really don't care what kind, as long as there is some kind of oil. Blueboy and Pinky are both standard-bore bikes that I have always run on 10.00/gallon outboard oil. I don't know what Kevin is running in Pinky now, but the point is (as always) that expensive oil is not necessarily better than cheap oil.

Nobody wants to believe me, but my customer that blends motor oil says that the biggest difference between brands is the marketing campaign. All oils sold have to meet the same standards, and the specs for two-stroke oil are almost met by base oil (no additives, just straight dino). When this plant was blending Pennzoil, Quaker State Shell formula 4, and Rotella (on the same line), the chemists were making jokes about their oils having "time-released formula" which merely described the way the additives naturally wear out. Interestingly, they also said that the only part of the oil that wears out is the additives (the polymers). The petroleum can be recycled over and over again. So, I'll use the stuff that doesn't wear out.

Believe what you want, but use SOME kind of oil in your bike.

That makes a whole lot of sense. We're not talking about 200Hp motoGP wundabikes here. We're talking about an old 750 that makes less HP than any 250 made in the last decade.

Stress levels and demands on the oil don't mandate the use of race quality oil.
