Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

Re: GT550 starter question
When you get the clutch cover off. Here is another thing to consider. You will see that the end of the starter motor drives the idler gear which is in turn in contact and drives the starter clutch. See the picture below, this is the idler gear as you can see it is held by two screws. I have heard that they can work loose with obvious result.

Re: GT550 starter question
Am now a bit confused. Per your link, "to make it more interesting there are two types of late Borg warner starter clutch."Alan H wrote:More starter clutch stuff here - http://www.kettleclinic.co.uk/kcforum/v ... ner#p71420" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

What is the difference?
I bought one a while back for my GT550 build. How do I tell which version I have?

Re: GT550 starter question
One is slightly wider than the other. Can't remember the measurements offhand, but they I believe they changed to a thicker one way Borg Warner device during the B model run . Some details here http://www.suzuki2-takt.se/suzuki-2-tak ... ik/gt-550/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;jabcb wrote:Am now a bit confused.
