This past weekend, I did notice a rumbling feeling in the pegs when I let off the throttle. I do not feel it while the power is on. Weird.

I'm confused. I am absolutely certain that the 73 model was the last to have fork gators. Is that the wrong front end or did you add them for looks?
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

I added them for looks and to protect the forks a bit. I had a good 70 mile ride with the GT380, the longest I have taken. Last week I cleaned the plugs and the carburetors throats. I added a few ounces of Seafoam to a full tank and ran them through the carburetors. Today I took it put for the first time since. It ran the best it has since I had it. It will pull to 7500 and it will cruise at low RPMs. I can cruise along in fifth gear at 40 to 50 MPH with no issue. I can climb modest grades without downshifting. Wind is no problem. Best ride I have had on the old girl.
