Thanks Jim.I don't have a bike license yet. It has been since I was a teenager (I am 42) that I even rode a motorcycle! It doesn't have a title, but the way I understand it, if the vin is ok you can a registration through VT with a bill of sale, that is transferable even if you don't live there. Option B is I have family in CT where I understand they don't require titles on bikes this old at all, just the bill of sale.

My guess by the looks of this bike is it will be a looooooong while before I have to worry about these things! I left the bike at my inlaws where I was on vacation last week, and brought the engine with me to work on here in MA. I go back in July, and I think I will be lucky to just have the engine ready by then, LOL!

SUCCESS! :D And boo! :(

Question: What thread pitch are the head studs in the 1970-71 Suzuki's?

I got the stuck cylinder off the engine. BUT like an idiot, the BFH missed its target and knocked off one of the head studs. It broke off below the surface, so there was nothing grab on to or weld a nut on- so I started drilling it out. I tried an easyout at a few stages, but it was taking too much force, and I didn't east to break off an easy out in that hole!

So I kept drilling larger, hoping I could get it so there was nothing but threads left from the old bolt.

Well I got it a little off center, grrr, but I am hoping I can get a tap down there and clean it out or the next step is helicoil.

I have a bunch of taps, but none seem to be a match.

I must admit this small bike is one of the reasons i thought ever thought about going under 250cc. Just can't beat that ultra leightweight look 8) Almost flying, imagine driving through town.. WOW.

The round shape old style tank is also one of my often searched items on ebay, but not many around...

Indeed. I saw this pic (below) of t125 on Do the Ton that was just a frame tank engine and pipes, and it looked like it was going 100MPH! Looks like some sort of spaceship just sitting there.

And turns out the head studs (I broke one and have been drilling it out.) have the same thread pitch and size as all the clutch cover and other side as well. Went down to Home depot to see if I could find a match. It appears to be a 6mm 1.0 thread pitch. I was kinda shocked they had the tap and bit set for it too. So I guess I have what I need to try to retap it. If it doesn't work the next move is a helicoil. Fingers crossed.

Good news! I was able to re- tap the head stud hole. The top few threads aren't the best, but they get better as the hole goes down. Heh, I want to buy pistons and rings and with a quick cylinder hone, slap it back together. The crank shaft actually feels pretty smooth.

But I should probably split the case and really see everything. Clean it real good. Make sure no debris got down in there with all my hammering, etc.

It's really a bad idea not to go through a 2 stroke crank, even when not rusted. The seals are probably shot, and the bearing probably won't last long.

I couldn't agree more. It's the Heart of the bike, and the worst part to access when all assembled. And if you leave it and hear a missound - you will always suspect that bloody crank. I would rather run old barrels with major blow through than new ones with old crank! I know this is not the case here btw!

If you didn't have the engine apart it was another story i guess..

On the other hand if it is a question about limited Cash, and hitting the road, hmmm... I know the feeling..

Can't wait for updates!

I almost forgot to tell you after you planted this idear in my head, i just had to look for one.. And i was really Lucky it all succeded

I had some old GT750 fork parts, calipers and a couple of trannys that i sold to a guy and voila i had some Money that was extra.

Then there came a T125 stinger on sale Ebay Germany, the guy was 600km away from me, so not close, but reachable when you need a hit to cure your addiction. I spoke with the guy who offered me to buy directly from him...

And my old man needed some steel posts to his new terrace, and i am a Black Smith, so i did those, and he drove to germany

Truly a wreck. But complete, besides the tyres - don't know where they are!

Excellent! And in better shape than mine, but that isn't too hard, as mine is a disaster. Yes I will take the case apart, snap a bunch of pics and ask what you guys think of the condition. I assume it will be pretty obvious if the bearings and seals are bad? Currently when I spin it by hand is it pretty smooth. No grinding that I feel. But my hand doesn't move at 7000rpm, lol.

Dyrberg,

You've started some kind of spreading addiction. I find myself idly exploring ebay UK :0)

Sometimes it just pays to let someone else do all the work and then pick it up for a good price
