T500 Oil pump question

Post by Drauff »

Hey all! I have been cleaning the carbs on this bike and getting ready to remove the rust from the tank. So I am getting close to seeing if she will start. My question is how do I prime the oiling system and make sure that it is working?

premix the first tank, and you will need to hold the oil pump to full open and run the bike until there is no air in the lines. some guys have pre filled the lines before starting to help get the oil to the engine sooner.

Remove the line from the pump and put a nut on the banjo bolt (with the washers in place). I bought one of those little oil squirt cans at the auto store and filled it with some 2 stroke oil and then just squirted it into the end of the banjo bolt. You can see the oil move through the lines and then stop just as it gets to the cylinders. Reattach the lines to the pump and you should be good to go.
