Re: T500 steering stem bearings
Chris,
Thanks for the write up and confirming the old post of using the Kawi bearings. I rebuilt the forks on my T500 with stiffer springs the group here made a number of years back and didn't even think to upgrade the bearings! I just did the AllBalls bearings on my Honda 350 and the steering is as smooth as butter now!
Jason.

Re: T500 steering stem bearings
I was just looking at the springs on the T500 tonight, they are pretty ordinary and feel week so I may do something with those too. The compressed springs at one end, are they supposed to have any gap at all between them, mine don't.
and speaking of Honda's, I am thinking of buying this one

There is not that many of this model here, it is a US import, I bought a GT750J from him last week.

Re: T500 steering stem bearings
450s are great bikes. The cams ran without bearings, oil lubricates a little bit of the cam sitting directly against the housing. Keep an eye on that part. Always wanted one of that year, I had a '71 and a '72.netbikes wrote:I was just looking at the springs on the T500 tonight, they are pretty ordinary and feel week so I may do something with those too. yes i knew you meant GT500 but I read your post, "good" bearing, like you were saying there was a better type of bearing.dinogt wrote:netbikes wrote:allballs number is 22-1005 for GT500.

One of our club members is right into the 450's, I am sure he will point out all the good and bad about them:-)evol02 wrote:450s are great bikes. No, for some reason they’ve changed my picture! Had a nice one of my old RG. Have found a Dutch supplier via All Balls, now waiting for a reply mail from them.
