Yea I hate these types of posts too...
Near me is a 76 GT 500. Guy got it less than a year old, been stored in a building, hasn't ran in thirty years. He says it turns over. I have not seen even a picture of it.
Value range?
I want to hot rod it. Are the later ones more/less desirous than the early ones?
Thanks, Ken

Re: 76 GT 500
I agree with johnakay! Unless you are going racing, it would not be the best ride to hotrod on the street. I have a '76 GT500 that is 99% bone stock, I don't claim to be an expert, but I think it simply would not take the hotrod stuff too well. The frame design is very basic and long, suspension is also 'basic'. Quality shocks are available but there is not much you can do with the stock forks. Some expensive aftermarket units would be needed. The amount of money put in, would be a lot for not that great a return. Now for racing, check with zook-e here on this board. He specializes in souping up 500's, so he would be the best to advise you. Do get the GT, if nothing else you will get an interesting project to work on and still a good riding bike (despite the vibes). I use mine as a daily rider, and find any 'excuse' to use it instead of the car.
